About the Area
Signal Mountain is home to more than 13,000 residents. The mountain itself begins in Hamilton County and extends into Sequatchie County. There are two distinct areas of Signal Mountain, the Town of Signal Mountain and the Town of Walden. Over the last twenty years, Signal and Walden have continued to change, grow, and improve. However, they have retained the beauty and serenity that first attracted the early settlers. Signal Mountain is home to a number of outdoor attractions including the Cumberland Trail, Mabbit Springs and Signal Point, a US National Park. In addition to these natural attractions there are several locations such as Rainbow Lake and Edward's Point, where visitors and citizens alike go to hike, backpack and enjoy the outdoors.
Every lot in West Brow Estates has a beautiful view of the Sequatchie Valley and the Cumberland Plateau. The Sequatchie Valley is one of only two Rift Valleys in the entire world, the other being Great Victoria Valley in Africa, the Sequatchie Valley was formed by giant shears as the plateau literally split apart, giving the valley its memorable shape. Over 125 miles long from the Tennessee River to Crossville, TN, the Sequatchie Valley never exceeds 5 miles in width. West Brow Estates is convenient yet secluded. Only 25-30 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, 10 minutes from the town center of Signal Mountain and 15 minutes from the town of Dunlap in Sequatchie County.

History of Signal Mountain
West Brow Estates is located on Signal Mountain in Sequatchie County, Tennessee just past the Hamilton County line. Signal Mountain's history dates back years before the settlement of the mountain itself. Centuries prior to the Civil War, Native Americans used a location on the mountain, known as Signal Point, to send fire and smoke signals across the Tennessee Valley, known as Chattanooga. The Town of Signal Mountain originated with the purchase of 4,400 acres of land in the Signal Point area by Charles E James. With his purchase of the mountain he began his plans for a residential community. |
